Core Duties of the Municipal Clerk
- Act as Secretary to the Municipal Corporation and Custodian of the Municipal Seal and of all minutes, books, deeds, bonds, contracts, and archival records of the Municipal Corporation.
- Prepare meeting agendas at the discretion of the Governing Body, be present at all meetings of the Governing Body, keep a journal of the proceedings of every meeting, retain the original copies of all ordinances and resolutions, and record the minutes of every meeting.
- Serve as the Chief Administrative Office in all elections held in the municipality. Serve as the Chief Registrar of Voters in the municipality.
- Serve as the Administrative Officer responsible for the acceptance of applications for licenses and permits and the issuance of licenses and permits.
- Serve as Coordinator and Records Manager responsible for implementing local archives and records retention.
- Clerk is responsible for responding to all requests for public records.

Animal Licenses
In accordance with NJ State law, residents must license their dogs and/or cats annually through the local municipality. All pet licenses must be renewed by March 31st of the current calendar year. Any license obtained after March 31st will be assessed a $20.00 late fee per animal, which is in addition to the license fee. The only exception is for those residents whose pet is newly acquired or who recently moved into the community. New residents must obtain their pet license within 10 days.
To register your pet, you must provide proof of rabies vaccination and proof of spaying or neutering. With respect to the rabies vaccination, State regulation requires that the vaccination carry through to November 1st of the licensing year.
- Spayed or Neutered dogs $13.20
- Non-Spayed or Neutered $20.20
- Spayed or Neutered cats $12.00
- Non-Spayed or Neutered $16.00
The Codes of the Township of Riverside, states that there shall be no more than four (4) dogs kept or maintained in or about any dwelling unit within the Township of Riverside. In addition, Chapter 122-21 of the Codes of the Township of Riverside requires that all owners remove and properly dispose of dog feces deposited on common thoroughfare, sidewalks, passageways, bypaths, play area, park or any place that people congregate, walk upon or any public property.

Business Licenses

Raffle and Bingo Licenses
If you are interested in conducting a raffle or bingo, please contact the Municipal Clerk at 856-461-1460 extension 2.
Road Opening Permits
Any work done in the roadway, including curbing and driveway aprons, requires a road opening permit. You are required to secure a road opening permit a minimum of seven (7) days prior to beginning the work.
